Chisapani Trekking

Photo

Chisapani Trekking is one of the most exciting and a day hiking trip package leading you to the location very near to the Kathmandu Valley. The first stretch of the trek is uphill walk through Shivapuri National Park. Chisopani trekking is ideal to get the first-hand experience of Nepali culture in a very short vacation. This trek is also suitable to get away from the hustling and bustling city life of Kathmandu towards the lap of nature and mountain surrounded landscape. The Chisopani trekking is also famous for observing the grand view of the sunrise. The famous mountain ranges that can be seen while being in this trek are Mt. Everest, Langtang, Manaslu and Annapurna.

Combining the best of nature with some typical local life, gorgeous Himalayan views, captivating sunset and ethereal sunrise from Chisapani and Nagarkot, this hike makes for an ideal vacation in a matter of three days. The trip starts with a short drive to Sundarijal, a popular hangout and busy picnic spot in the north of Kathmandu. Falling inside the boundaries of Shivapuri National Park, this is a place of cool shades, tall trees, beautiful streams and serene atmosphere — all in striking contrast to the noise and crowd of the city. Leaving aside a few settlements on the way, the hiking trail passes through the forest to Chisapani. The village also commands a beautiful view of the large section of the Himalayan range, which emits an ethereal glow in the setting sunlight.

All along the forest through Shivapuri National Park with only occasional settlements, we reach Nagarkot, the most popular vantage point to the east of Kathmandu. In clear weather, an extended portion of the Himalayas, starting from the Dhaulagiri in the west to Mt Everest and Kanchanjunga in the far East glue your eyes to them. Wake up early in the morning to view the sunrise. Only now do you feel the full force of the charming glow the Himalayan range exudes when the fresh rays of the rising sun strike it. Finally, you can either choose to take a hike to Changunarayan, The trek further continues towards Changu Narayan. The temple is a historical one and is also enlisted in the "World Heritage Sites". The sculpture and arts of this temple are really picturesque.

 Day wise trek:

This trek starts from the northeastern outskirt of Kathmandu. The first stretch of the trek is uphill walk through the rhododendron forest of the Shivapuri national park. After 4-5 hrs of the walk we reach the spectacular Mountain Viewpoint of Chisapani from where we can have the close view of a long range of Eastern Himalayas from Langtang to Gaurishankar Ranges.

On the second day, we walk past some ethnic villages and mostly through a dense and beautiful forest, listening to the birds chirping and enjoying the view of the Himalayas. In the winter months we sometimes even meet wild fowls and sometimes even deer.

The two days version of this trek ends at Sankhu where we catch our vehicle for Kathmandu. However, for 3 days hike, we continue to Nagarkot, another famous Mountain Viewpoint on Kathmandu valley, stay overnight there and next day trek to Changunarayan and drive back to Kathmandu.
